Bishop Sheard has a demonstrated track-record of integrity and fairness in every facet of his life and you can count on that constant in his leadership.
For the past 8 years, Bishop Sheard has worked to ensure integrity and fairness are paramount in General Board decisions.
As Chairman of AIM, he demonstrated both his fiscal and financial acumen by contributing more money back to the National Church during his tenure than any other Chairman.
As President of the International Youth Department, he demonstrated both his fiscal and financial acumen by making the Music and Youth Convention financially sound and becoming the first and only Department President to return a complete financial report and return remaining funds to the National Church.
In addition to fighting to protect historic jurisdictions, Bishop Sheard has been a consistent advocate for fairness and respect for all the leaders in our church, notably women in ministry and the role of international Bishops in our church.

Bishop J Drew Sheard believes that the family is the cornerstone of the church. On June 16, 1984, he married the legendary Evangelist Karen Clark Sheard. Bishop and First Lady Sheard have two children, Kierra Sheard Kelly and J. Drew II, and two grandchildren, Jacob & Kali. Bishop Sheard’s plan includes a renewed focus on marriage and families by establishing ministry leadership to strengthen marriages based on biblical principles and reaffirming our focus on training and educating our children according to biblical principles. As we work to empower families, we must also ensure that the church is a refuge for the fatherless and offers healing for broken families.
